We have had a lot of requests for additional levels in volleyball--so we have opened registration for grade levels 4-8! Games will be 6v6, and played in the Clayton league.  For more information, see here: https://www.mrhys.org/Default.aspx?tabid=1017809&mid=1095650&newskeyid=HN2&newsid=300023&ctl=newsdetail

We received positive feedback on the changes that were made to the Pre-K soccer program in 2018, so for 2019 we have decided to expand it, adding more levels. The changes included age group 2v2 games, which creates the following:

1. Practices and games can be focused on each age group's specific skill and developmental needs.  This means that more mature players can learn faster, and less mature players don't have to stay as late or as long at practices and games.

2. Younger or less developed players will get more time on the ball in games than when playing against players up to 68% older than themselves (That was the difference in age between our oldest and youngest PK players last year, which is like asking a high school freshman to play against a 25-year-old).

3. Less formal teams means more flexibility in playing with and against friends

4. All players can play at their skill level - games and practices will be more competitive and nobody should be overmatched or able to completely dominate, meaning that everyone should get better faster.

5. More touches in games = More goals scored = More FUN!

Pre K and KG registration will be from July 1- August 18, 2019.

Kindergarten Soccer:
              1) Kindergarten children play 4 vs 4 coed soccer.
              2) Games are played on Saturday mornings (beginning in early-mid Sept.)between 9am-12pm at Ryan Hummert Park against other MRH teams.
              3) 2, 20 minute halves for KG games.
              4) We need volunteer coaches for PreK and KG soccer teams.  You do not need to have soccer experience at this age, just energy,      patience and willingness to organize the kids.  All parents must stay at practice with PreK and KG kids, this is not a "drop off"       situation.

1st-2nd Grade Boys and Girls teams:

1st-2nd Grade soccer will be either 8vs8, including a goalie in the Clayton league against other local grade schools, or 5vs5, including a goalie at St. Luke’s. Details will be shared as soon as possible regarding where the league will take place. In either case, games are typically Saturdays or Sundays between 8am-6pm. The first expected games are September 7, 2019

3rd-4th Grade Boys and Girls teams

1st-4th graders play 8vs8, including a goalie in the Clayton League against other local grade schools. Games are typically               Saturdays or Sundays between 8am-6pm at parks in the Clayton, Olivette, Maplewood or Richmond Heights area. The first expected games are September 7, 2019.

5th-8th Grade Boys and Girls Teams

Teams play 11vs 11, including a goalie, in the Clayton League at Clayton facilities such as Shaw Park and Wydown Middle School.  Games are typically Saturdays or Sundays (but may be also during the week) from 8:00am-6:00pm timeframe. The first expected games are September 7, 2019.

Other Important Details:
1)  Game schedules will be released as soon as they are made available to use! Typically begin September 7 and end the first weekend in November.

2)  Practice nights are determined by availability and preference of the coach.

3)  Keep in mind that all coaches are volunteers and parents are also needed to help run practices!

4)  Children will be placed on teams on a first come, first serve basis.  If a team fills up, a waiting list will be started to see if we have enough kids for a second team AND a second person who is willing to coach.  We make every effort to make sure that all kids can play, but it is not guaranteed. If a wait list is formed, we will be in touch to let you know where things stand for a second team.

5) Teams do not stay the same from one year to the next.  We intentionally mix up kids and coaches to give kids a chance to play with other teammates and experience different types of coaching.

6) Coaches do their best to run practices in a manner to limit waiting in lines, and keeping the kids moving and having fun. The goal is to let the kids learn and improve their skills while learning to love the game of soccer   If a child is consistently being asked to sit out due to behavior issues or being a distraction to playing soccer, the parents will be required to be present at every practice.  They will be responsible for supervising their child if/when he/she is asked to sit out.  If this continues to be a distraction, the child may be removed from the team. There is a waiver during the registration process that each parent will agree to.
